About Us

The Boathouse Cello Choir (BHCC) was formed in April 2011.  It is an eclectic group of cellist whose skills range from beginner to advanced.

Our name comes from where we first practiced, which was the boathouse at Epping Forest.  The view from the practice room is spectacular, and the name couldn't have been more perfect! Because of the recent expansion of our group, however, we have had to move to a roomier practice venue.  Occasionally, though, we still play at Epping, and still admire the view whenever we are there.

We each bring to the BHCC various talents beside the cello.  We have the ability to add a trumpet, clarinet, percussion and vocals to our performance.  Several members have written original music for the BHCC and also arrange music for cellos.

Some of the places we have played include assisted living homes, the Riverside Art Market, Epping Forest, Jacksonville Art Walk and with the Jacksonville Pops orchestra. Our group performs regularly for area events and is open to new members upon audition.  Our members are of all ages and abilities.

Our standard repertoire contains everything from classical to rock music, and we can arrange and play many other pieces if requested.  We also include songs with fun vocals and/or other instruments added in.  Our performances are not like orchestra concerts, they are all about putting on a fun show!

We are available for any kind of event.    Please contact us for more information.
